作品和设计说明
In my work I mainly use simple forms in silent materials evoquing architecture, mechanical parts and industrial equipment, everyday objects that usually go unnoticed. I aim to trigger curiosity in the viewer to figure out the mechanisms these “parts” belongs, in the best case push them to picture imaginary machines. This is how I seek to create spaces for a contemplatory experience.
I believe that is the capacity to notice small details that makes us come out of our fast track routine, and that the acquisition of such capacity can make our life experience much richer.
White elephant, 2018-2019 Brooch
Materials: Sterling silver, cotton, slate, stainless steel.
White elephant is an expression to describe a possession that becomes a burden lately used to describe extremely expensive architectural or infrastructure projects left abandoned to be eaten by nature.
Such spaces become metamorphic, they have the suspended air and silent atmosphere of a sanctuary. They are inhabited by unexpected species, just like sunken ships.
White elephants are free of purpose therefore free to stretch the boundaries of what constitutes a building.
