I have created this material* with the intention that it works to make an unusual jewel proposal, which highlights the dynamism of the piece. Jewels whose end is scheduled. That is, a jewel possible to be destroyed, and at the time the user decides; and in turn, with the ability to be re-built, through a simple methodology of material recovery. Likewise, components such as sound, aroma and texture determine the uniqueness of each piece.

The shape of this work evokes the molecular structure, starting from chemistry and medicine, as sources of inspiration and information. Although it is also deeply linked to the carving of a faceted stone.

This proposal arises from the analysis and reflection on the current society, completely consumerist and based on permanent replacement practices. And as a consequence, of the intention to put in check the tradition of treasuring jewelry.

This ephemeral jewel leaves its lasting mark in time from the vestige of the metal that supports it.

It is important to note that the delay it takes for the material to dissolve. This jewel can be dissolved in water, in case the user makes the decision to make it disappear, but it has a time of 2 days for this process to take place. That means, it can be dissolve at will, but it is not fragile.

The piece offers a possibility of reconstitution of the jewel by the owner, following step by step a series of instructions gives us access to the recovery of it. A capacity for interaction with the consumer.

Complementary sensory perceptions, such as smell, sound and texture, realize the importance of an experience that exceeds the visual field in which traditional jewelry would be understood.

*BIOMATERIAL
Search motive: Find a solution to the global problem caused by the incessant generation of waste.
– Function: Replace single-use plastics, those we use and throw away in a few moments without giving them a long life or reuse. Avoiding the accumulation of waste.
-Origin: Cellulose.
-Capacity: You can cut and engrave information on the surface with laser. It is possible to fold and glue it only with water. Absolute transparency or pigmentation can be obtained with completely natural or mineral dyes.
Transparency was looked for in its appearance in order to facilitate its acceptance among the audience as it is unusual for them to deal with such materials. In this way they will possibly be able to familiarize it with the plastics they already know, and become accustomed to it faster.
It is very resistant to weight, and in contact with oils and alcohols.
