“Change is the essential condition of existence and move- ment, the opportunity to grow and develop”
Cicatrices series, is my interpretation of the landscape as an expression of the physical and the transformation that occurs within it, by the repea- ted occurrences that transform and characterize it over and over again.
Often and sometimes unconsciously, when I take on a new project I’m surpri- sed by wanting to work on my perception of a place again and the sensations that I have felt there. With the pieces from ‘Cicatrices series’ I want to show encapsuted landscapes that below their scars show the territory that I truly believe that they represent.
In this work I started by drawing lines carved and drilled landscape images on the metal which represent milestones that are repeated within the drawing. I then give volume to the metal which stretches and breaks by the pressure of these markings, creating folds and scars. This is the exterior layer that hides another sheet of metal moulded in a spontaneous way as an earth or water scene that encapsulates a surface with a hidden interior.
